Ingredients:
- Milk – 1 cup
- Bread pieces – 1 cup
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Cardamom powder – 1 tbsp
- Cashew nuts and any other dry fruits for garnishing
How to cook :
- Remove the brown color part on all sides of the bread slices (to over come the bitter taste and colour of Halwa).
- Cut them into small pieces.
- Heat ghee in a container, and fry the dry fruits till they appear brown coloured.
- Fry cut bread in the same container till the raw bread smell is gone.
- In another container boil milk with sugar in simmer.
- Keep on stirring till the milk become condensed and sugar gets diluted.
- Add the bits of fried bread into milk and cook it well until the mix becomes soft and mushy.
- Add rusk powder and cashew nut powder (to get more taste).
- Add the ghee to the above mix and cook for few more minutes.
- Add Cardamom powder for more flavour.
- Garnish with dry fruits and serve while it is warm.
- Bread Halwa can be refrigerated and is good when cooled. Refrigerated Halwa will be good for nearly 2 weeks.
