Shakshuka

Shakshuka is a  Arabic name which means a mixture, is a staple food in many countries like Egypt, Morocco, Israel and in middle east countries. The traditional way of serving this dish is in Iron cast pan with bread. It is made by poaching eggs in rich tomato rice.

The dish credit goes to my husband who tried this recipe with out my help and turned out so delicious and thats why sharing this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Eggs – 4
  • Tomatoes – 1 cup (chopped or can use tomato puree)
  • Pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Onions – one big (chopped)
  • Oil – 2 tbsp

How to make Shakshuka:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onions and fry well till it becomes golden brown colour.Chopped white onions
  2. Then add chopped tomatoes or tomato puree to it and mix well and cook well by placing a lid on the pan  for 10 minutes.chopped tomatoes were added to onions on to a pan while cooking tomatoes
  3. Then break the eggs and drop them at a place in different places with out touching one with another like how we make poached eggs.After adding eggs and sprinkle some salt and pepper
  4. Add salt, Pepper on the eggs and place the lid on the pan and cook well on simmer.Shakshouka is almost over!
  5. Serve hot with bread.Shakshouka on bread slice
