Vermicelli halwa is one easy recipe to prepare. It is delicious and loved by many for a light snack in the evening or for dessert course. My mother taught me this recipe. I used to help her cook this Halwa very often, when we had surprise guests and when my mom is busy attending the guests.
Ingredients:
- Vermicelli – 1 cup
- Sugar – 3/4 cup
- Warm milk – 1/2 cup
- Water – 1 1/2 cup
- Ghee – 1/2 cup
- Dry fruits – few (almonds, cashews, raisins)
How to prepare Vermicelli Halwa:
- Roast the vermicelli in 1 tbsp of ghee in a frying pan on low flame.
- In another clean cooking pan boil water on high flame.
- Transfer the vermicelli into boiling water once the vermicelli is roasted.
- Mix and cook the vermicelli till all the water content is absorbed.
- Add milk and mix well.
- Place a lid on it and cook for some time till all the milk was absorbed by Vermicelli.
- Then add sugar to the pan and mix.
- Place a lid on it and cook. Stir Occasionally.
- First the sugar is dissolved and after some time forms into thick syrup.
- Continue cooking till the sugar syrup mixes with the vermicelli.
- Pour the ghee once the vermicelli is completely cooked and mix well.
- Transfer Vermicelli Halwa into a large pan. Allow it to cool a bit.
- Once it gets a bit stiff, you can cut into small Cakes to store easily.
- Garnish with almonds.
- You can preserve the recipe for 2 days in refrigerator (in a closed box). Make sure it is not freezed.
Note:
- You can add food colour in the boiling water if you wish the sweet to be coloured.
- You can add adjust the sugar quantity depends on your taste.
- You can garnish the Vermicelli Halwa with dry fruits and serve the recipe as it is.
- Adjust the sugar content a bit less to get non sticky and puffy vermicelli sweet.
Too good…..
Thank you Ammu!
