Sweet Wheat Crisps

Ingredients for sweet wheat crisps:

  • Wheat flour – 4 cups
  • Salt – 1 tbsp
  • Oil for deep fry
  • Sugar – 3 cups
  • Water – 3 cups
  • Cardamom powder – 1 tbsp
  • Baking powder – 1 tbsp
  • Butter – 1/2 cup

How to make Sugar syrup:

Take the 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water in a vessel and boil for at least 20 minutes in high flame till it converts into thick syrup. Make sure that should be hot when dumping the fried wheat crisps. Add 1 tbsp of Elachi/Cardamom powder into it.

How to prepare Sweet wheat crisps:

  1. Mix wheat flour and baking powder in a bowl.
  2. Add butter, and mix well then add sufficient water to make a stiff, smooth, puffy dough ball (similar to preparing chapati dough).
  3. Knead the dough hard and leave it for 2 hours.
  4. Then make chapathies with the dough.
  5. Take a clean knife and cut the chapathi into diamond shapes ( any shape like squares..)
  6. Then drop the pieces one by one in the hot boiling sunflower oil (use any oil) and fry them on a high flame for 5minutes.
  7. Then turn the flame into medium and deep fry them until they turn into brown colour.
  8. Transfer the fried crisps on tissues to remove excess oil.
  9. Drop the crisps in sugar syrup.
  10. Mix well until they absorb the syrup completely and dried.
  11. cool them and store in an dry air tight container .
  12. Enjoy the sugar coated wheat crisps.

NOTE:

  • Make sure that should be hot when dumping the fried wheat crisps.
  • Can use jaggery syrup instead of sugar syrup.
