Meal Maker is a protein rich source and can make a great rich recipes just like chicken. Though it looks like a chicken its not made with any flesh its just full of soya protein. We can make so many recipes with meal maker. I am sharing first recipe with meal maker which is meal maker pulao and I will post other recipes as well later.
Ingredients:
- Basmati Rice – 2 cups
- Oil – 2 tbsp (or ghee for more taste)
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric for colour – ½ spoon
Spices used for Pula0:
- Cinnamon sticks – 1
- Cloves – 2
- Cardamom pods cracked – 2
- A pinch of Ajinomoto
- Bay leaves – 2
- Star shaped anise – 1
- Stone flowers – 1
- Shahi Jeera – 1/2 tbsp
- Javetri – 1
Other Ingredients:
- Onion – 1 sliced
- Green chillies – 5 slit
- Cilantro leaves – few chopped
- Mint leaves – few chopped
- Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- Meal maker – 10
- Water – 3 cups
- Chaat masala powder – 1 tbsp
- Garam masala powder – 1 tbsp
How to make Meal Maker Ready to prepare Pulao:
- Main Ingredient for this recipe is Meal maker, lets see how this meal maker can be used for pulao.
- Wash the meal maker once in a cold water and kept aside.
- Boil water in a container.
- Drop the dry meal maker in boiling water and leave them until all the meal maker absorbs water slowly and become bulged. Once the meal maker become softened remove them from water and strain them.
How to prepare Meal Maker Pulao:
- Heat oil/ghee in a wok (for making pulao) for one minute on simmer.
- Add biryani spices into the container one after another as follows and fry them: Shajeera – Cardamom pods – Cloves – Cinnamon Stick – Star shaped anise – Stone flowers- Javetri – Bay leaves.
- Add slit 5 Green chillies and fry well. Then add long onion pieces, Mint leaves followed by Ginger Garlic paste and fry.
- Add meal maker and Coriander leaves and Fry well.
- After frying take out the meal maker and keep aside.
- Add 3 cups of water to the pan along with salt and Ajinomoto to it and boil well.
- Add one spoon Garam masala powder and one spoon chat masala powder to it. Mix well.
- Then add cleanly washed Basmati Rice to the water and mix well.
- Cook the rice on a high flame till the rice absorbs the water(12 min). Stir Occasionally.
- Then add the meal maker and mix well.
- Finally Cook the rice for 15 min with a lid on simmer.
- You can make the pulao in pressure cooker or rice cooker to skip 8 & 9 and 10 steps, But you should leave the meal maker in it at 4th step.
